My name is Martin Cunningham, Principle and teacher for grades 3-8 at LSCA. I am originally from Walla Walla, Washington. My mother worked as a nurse and my father as an engineer. Teaching was not something I ever dreamed I would be doing, but I am so thankful to God for showing me His plan for my life.
Since meeting my wife as a student missionary in Chuuk (near Guam), I finished college at Southern and worked for 5 years in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan (This is where I met Debbie Curran, former principal here).
My wife Rhonda, who is also a teacher, worked with me until our first child, Leah, was born. We left Michigan for Tennessee with 2 year old Leah, 9 month old Caleb, and Abigail still in the oven. Jellico, Tennessee has been my home for the past 9 years. It has been a wonderful place for our entire family. Our children have had the privilege of getting started with school at home (we aren’t sure yet how long this will last), and I have learned so many things as a teacher. With our hospital in Jellico changing ownership, our school’s enrollment was drastically reduced, and it was time to move.
This is my first year at LSCA and my family and I feel very blessed to live and work in such a beautiful part of the country and with a wonderful church and school family.
